Applications sought for the galleries competition with jury of the Festival des arts
Nominations are currently being sought for the 44th Lubbock Arts Festival Jury Gallery Competition.
The event is part of the annual Lubbock Arts Festival scheduled for April 8-10 and is open to all artists working in any fine art medium.
Applications must be original in design and execution and must have been completed within the past two years. Work carried out in the workshop or under supervision is not eligible.
The registration fee is $ 30 per entry and each artist cannot have more than three works represented in the exhibition, but the number of entries is not limited. Registration fees are non-refundable. Registrations will only be accepted online via callforentry.org
The juror of this exhibition is Isadora Stowe, a multimedia artist and art teacher whose work focuses on the environmental narrative translated and encoded into complex psychological landscapes.
Stowe grew up in the Southwest, living and working in New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico. She credits these experiences for providing an increased awareness of geographic and political boundaries, and a fascination with exploring self-identity and home-building in her work.
Stowe received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting with a double major in Cultural Anthropology, a minor in Native American Studies, and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing. She exhibits her work on a large scale and is represented in numerous collections across the country and in Mexico.
She has received several grants, scholarships, and awards for her work, including an Award of Excellence from the New Mexico Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts. She was recently featured in the book “The Motherhood of Art” published in April 2020 by Schiffer Publishing.
She sits on numerous local and national committees and the board of directors of the Texas Association of Schools of Art and Bordersenses, a nonprofit organization that promotes the arts in the binational region.
