INTRIGUING ARTIST FILMS, THE RISE OF ART INFLUENCER AND AN NFT SHOWCASE AT SEA FOCUS 2022
Centered on the theme of chance… constellations, contemporary Asian art goes beyond the limits of the gallery during the flagship event of Singapore Art Week.

As the world continues to grapple with the ongoing pandemic, SEA Focus 2022 is one of the few art fairs in the world to move forward. In its distinctive scaffolding space at Tanjong Pagar Distripark which evokes this year’s theme, chance … constellations, is a carefully curated exhibition. Showcasing more than 150 works of art from 50 artists and 24 galleries in the region, SEA Focus 2022 – the flagship event of Singapore Art Week 2022 – is set to become a springboard for a progressive glimpse into the future of the world. contemporary art from Southeast Asia.
Taking art beyond the limits of the gallery, SEA Focus 2022’s lineup includes its first NFT (Non-Fungible Token) showcase, engaging and insightful talks by industry leaders, and a dynamic program of films. and videos in its first pop-up screening room, Projector X – offering tantalizing glimpses of what’s to come for the region’s creative landscape.

FRINGE FILM PROGRAM IN THE X PROJECTOR
Making his debut as an Official Fringe Partner is Projector X at Riverside Point, a pop-up screening room of The Projector. The space will host the screening of 25 captivating short films, animations and videos produced by artists from Southeast Asia from January 19 to 21.
works by leading and avant-garde artists such as Robert Zhao Renhui (Singapore/ Mizuma Gallery), Tromarama (Indonesia/ ROH Projects) and Jacques Clar (The Philippines/ Silverlens) offer provocative insights and commentary on the socio-political landscape and history of the region.
SEAspotlight TALKS: PIVOT TOWARDS THE FUTURE
A highlight for SEA Focus every year, SEAspotlight conferences is a specially curated series of panel discussions featuring industry experts. In partnership with the official media partner ArtAsiaPacific (AAP) and on the theme “Pivot to the Future”, six conferences from January 11 to 20 will explore a world of post-pandemic contemporary art.
The session “Pivot to the future: collaboration versus consolidation” (8 p.m., Jan. 11, via Zoom) sees gallery owners discuss the evolution of the global art market in a post-Covid world, while the growing importance of millennial art collectors is highlighted in ‘Age of Influencers “(8 p.m., Jan. 12, via Zoom). And in “Selling art in a virtual world” (8 p.m., Jan. 19, via Zoom), considerations when purchasing art in digital formats are just a starting point in the progressive realm of virtual art. THE TEZOS SHOWCASE OF REGIONAL DIGITAL ARTISTS NFT
SEA Focus 2022 will also feature Tezos, an energy-efficient blockchain widely adopted by NFT artists and collectors around the world. TZ APAC, the leading Tezos blockchain adoption entity in Asia and CAWA (Crypto Art Week Asia), the largest crypto art festival in Asia, will present a Asia– Centered NFT showcase titled “Tezos NFTs: The New North Star”. This will be the first NFT exhibition presented by a public blockchain entity at SEA Focus.
“NFTs: The New North Star” will feature 15 digital artists from Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, India, Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea who hit their art on the Tezos blockchain. They include Indonesian comic artist Tezos, Arya Mularama; Brunei-based generative artist, Yazid; and Singaporeabstract artist, warrragwag.
Similar to its NFT showcase at Art Basel Miami Beach last December, TZ APAC will also be hosting a live typing showcase that will allow viewers and visitors to experience firsthand the process of typing an NFT – allowing them to leave SEA. Focus 2022 with their owning a unique generative work of art.
