Need to prove that you are vaccinated? Here’s how to add your COVID-19 card to your phone
Starting August 16, New York City residents will be required to show proof of vaccination before participating in indoor activities like the gym and dining out. More cities are expected to follow suit with the rise of the prevalent Delta strain of the COVID-19 virus. San Francisco has already started requiring documents on vaccines so that customers can enter bars, the WSJ reports.

As the Delta variant becomes the dominant strain nationwide and vaccination rules tighten accordingly, the easiest way to prove your status is to use your smartphone.
National passports for vaccines have been distributed, but have not yet materialized in the United States, so proof of vaccination will vary from state to state. Some states may have a specific app that you can download to your phone and then download your immunization card. This is not really necessary at the moment.
Most bars, restaurants and gyms will simply accept your CDC vaccination card or a photo / scan of it. Here is a quick tip on how to get your card on your phone where it is accessible.
Scan it
IPhones and Androids both have scanning capability built into the phone – and no, you’re not the only one who didn’t know it existed.
On an Android, you can scan any document directly into Google Drive. Tap the rainbow-colored “+” button in the lower right corner of the Google Drive home screen. When the menu slides up from the bottom, select “Scan”. (I know, it was my first time too.)
On an iPhone, just open a new note and tap the camera icon. Then select “Scan documents” and you are ready to go.
Without a scanner: just take a good photo of your vaccination card.

The last thing you want when you’re in a line to walk into a bar or restaurant is having to scroll through 200 photos on your phone to find your vaccination card. On iPhones, you can pin the note to stay at the top of the screen by tapping the three dots in the corner after scanning the image. On Androids, just create a vaccine card folder in the Gallery. You can also tap the three dots in the upper left corner of the image to add it as a starred document and download it for access when you are out of service.
