From his passion for his alma mater to his devotion to his family, friends and community, Ryan Marchiori has forged a lifetime of strong bonds over 33 years.
On Thursday, more than 140 people from the Marchiori family and the Saint-Bonaventure university community honored his memory with the dedication of the Marchiori pavilion.

Located on the north side of campus across from the iconic Devereux Hall, the pavilion is available to the community for almost year-round use. It includes two natural gas fireplaces, a large gas grill and plenty of seating. Marchiori was a devoted Bonnie and a devoted member of her community. This space will make it possible to share his memory forever.
“Do you know how we honor Ideal Bonaventure students in their final year? Well, Ryan was Ideal Bonaventure’s alumnus since he graduated,” said Dr. Jim Mahar, associate professor of finance who served as emcee for the dedication.
Marchiori died following a car accident in the fall of 2019. His family established a memorial fund which allowed the Warming House to be donated with the remaining funds leading to the establishment of the pavilion and home. The senior class gifts for the classes of 2020 and 2021 were specifically donated to this project with contributions from friends and alumni.
Marchiori had a love for the outdoors. The pavilion provides a beautiful gathering space for students, alumni and the surrounding community.
“It’s a place for the community,” said Dr. Joseph Zimmer, interim president of Saint-Bonaventure.
Ryan’s father, Gary, and brother, Luke, from the 2011 and 2012 classes, thanked the more than 200 donors who contributed to the project – “The generosity has been overwhelming,” said Luke – and Jared Smith, director of facility operations at Saint Bonaventure, for his vision of the project.
The original idea to honor Ryan was for a memorial bench, but it didn’t seem adequate.
“When I thought big, Jared thought bigger,” Gary said.
Prof. Dan Riley, ofm, officially dedicated the pavilion and helped Luke bless the structure.
Gary spoke about the significant impact Bonaventure had on Ryan.
“This place shaped him as a person and turned him into a leader,” Gary said. “Bonaventure established a moral compass for my son. I will never forget him.
Marchiori obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in finance in 2008 and an MBA in 2009 from Saint-Bonaventure. After graduating, he joined the management team of EnergyMark, a local electricity, natural gas and renewable energy provider based in Williamsville, New York.
