THE WORK OF ART BY national artist Fernando Amorsolo from 1955 “Lavanderas” contributed

THE thrill of last Saturday’s auction scene was palpable at Saturday’s “The Well-Named Life” “The Worlds We Create” sale, as evidenced by the record results seen in both categories of the auction. auction – the “Connoisseur Collection”. ”And the“ Important Philippine Art ”auction. The success of Salcedo Auctions became a barometer for the Filipino art market, as the sale featured artwork by Filipino masters and national artists, antique Filipino hardwood furniture, and ecclesiastical items.

Shortly after the hammer fell for the last lot of the evening, Salcedo auctioneer Richie Lerma, President and Chief Specialist, gave an interview about the success of the “Well-Named Life” sales. “These auctions show that Salcedo Auctions, the nation’s leading auction house, delivers reliable and trustworthy results that serve as a barometer for the Philippine art market.”

Ramon Orlina’s sculpture “Amber Rose” topped the list – a stunning result even for the acclaimed artist. Last Saturday’s sale also produced the highest price on record for a sculpture by figurative expressionist Solomon Saprid, followed by an unsigned 6×10 inch pencil drawing by national artist Fernando Amorsolo, leaving the spectators gasp like two bidders, one online, the other on the phone – engaged in a protracted battle to claim the coin, while Hidalgo’s ‘Marina’ has sold for millions – the highest price ever reached for a painting from the turn of the century by the old master.

The works join a long and stellar list of aptly named pieces which include “Blue Harbor” by national artist Jose Joya, “Excursion to Pinaglabanan” by national artist Hernando Ocampo in 1975, “Lavanderas” by national artist Fernando Amorsolo in 1955, to name a few. Mailings for the end of year sale of Salcedo Auctions “Under the tree” are now accepted. For more information, send an email [email protected] or log in via IG and FB @salcedoauctions
