These two covers are amazing as a pair – incredible images of two of the most iconic superheroes of all time, rendered impeccably in the Ross brand style and both taken from what most collectors consider to be. his most desirable period “, Todd Hignite, vice president of Heritage Auctions. noted. “Iconic is a term that is probably overused in our field, but these originals are absolutely admissible.”

Superman: Peace on Earth and Batman: the war on crime were both released in 1999 as a duo of prestige-format collaborations between Paul Dini and Ross. The former saw the Man of Steel work to inspire the people of Earth during the Christmas season, while the latter showed Batman rebuilding a neighborhood in Gotham City and facing off against a young man who had also seen his parents die.

Both books won a flurry of awards, with War on crime receiving both a Harvey and an Eisner in 2000. The books were the precursor to four other works by Dini and Ross, including Shazam: the power of hope and Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth, which were then classified as The greatest superheroes in the world series.
