Funding Cut

Storey Gallery's application for continued annual funding from Arts Council England from April 2012 under its new scheme was not successful.

2011 is our 20th year

We had hoped to celebrate. Instead our future is uncertain.
Storey Gallery is proud to have delivered over 100 exhibitions, plus many talks on art, work with schools, and projects in the city. We moved back into the refurbished Storey Institute in 2009, and have delivered a programme of challenging work which has been welcomed by our visitors.
Staff and trustees are considering the options for our continued successful operation.
We are receiving annual funding from ACE for 2011-12, and we are applying for programme funding.

Lancaster

Lancaster has been hit hard by the decisions made under the new Arts Council funding scheme. In addition to Storey Gallery, Lifest, and folly have also been completely cut, Ludus has been cut by 70%, and funding for The Dukes has been reduced.
These drastic cuts to the arts funding will have a severe effect on the district. Lancaster Arts Partnership has recently shown that not only does Lancaster have the liveliest arts scene in the North West outside Liverpool and Manchester, which residents and visitors enjoy, but that this arts activity brings a lot of money into the district. These Arts Council funding cuts will change Lancaster.
